there is a 75 percent chance he will come back as strong as he was. He has a better chance of coming back because of his age and ability. Most of the time when pitchers in the mlb have arm surgery they come back just as strong if not stronger, because the tendon they put in is stronger than the original one. Also they will be stronger because of the intense rehab program on the arm.

A lot of guys come back as good as or even better than before from Tommy John surgery. Prior has had shoulder problems, which are much more serious. Wood had a good return from Tommy John surgery, but has had other injuries since returning.

They have a good chance to come back if they don’t push it.

Liriano had ligament replacement in the elbow of his throwing arm. twenty years ago it would have been a real problem but today most pitchers come back the following year at near 100%. Too many innings at too young an age gets them every time but he should be fine in 2008. You can bet the Twins will keep a close eye on him.
