Experience With Spinal Disc Replacement?

Anyone Had a Spinal Disc Replacement? What was the worst part? How long did recovery take?
Hubby is having spinal disc replacement with an artificial disc. We have been waiting two years for the surgery and still going thru red tape to get their? I am interested in hearing anyones person experience such as how long you were in the hospital? How soon did they have you up and walking? What were your risk?

    It hurt, but not as bad as the pain before the surgery. They had me walking the next day and I went home on the 4th day post-op.
    Risks include being paraplegic.
