Well unfortunately that is something you are going to have to ask your doctors about. I would think that your health would come first before school or anything else. Plus, if you are so worried that you will miss that many classes, get medical documentation from your doctors before hand and speak with all your teachers to try and work out something. If worst comes to worst, you can ask for an incomplete and then you have exactly one year to complete all your course work for them. There should not be a problem in obtaining this if you have proper documentation. Dont play around with your health. Cysts can burst inside of you and then it becomes worse for you.

Hi sweetie,
Not to worry. I had the surgery and I'd have it again rather than have the pain from the cyst when it's bad.
The surgery does not hurt. You are sound asleep and won't feel a thing. Even when you wake up, they will give you medicine to manage your pain. I can't promise you won't be uncomfortable, because any surgery takes time to heal from, but it's not the kind of pain to fear - it's not intense...just not comfortable. Plus, it will go away as you recover and you won't have that awful pain from the cyst any more.
My surgery was over 10 years ago, but they did not leave it open. They put in stitches, but it still had to heal from the inside out. This part sounds not good, but it doesn't hurt. When I first got home I had to lay on my stomach. Every 4 hours I had to have a dressing change, which consisted of a rolled-up piece of gauze dipped in Hydrogen Perioxide (no, it did not burn, but the bubbles it made tickled) and then packed into the surgery site. I was married, so a bit more embarassed than if my mom could have helped me.
I don't remember how long we had to do that, but it seems like it took about 2 weeks. UnIess it's gotten so bad you have no choice, you might ask if you can wait until summer, when school is out to do this.
I waited longer than I should have, but when it flaired up I had several tricks. I would soak in a hot tub of water, then afterward I would put Neosporin Antibiotic ointment on it. It always lessened the flair-ups, but be sure a tape a piece of gauze at the site in case it 'releases' when you don't expect it.
I hope this helps. If you have further questions, just post and I'll watch for you.
Good luck!!
