Jenny,
short term band-aid:
go to your doctor and see if you can get muscle relaxers, BUT do not drink! Again, this is just a band-aid.
A real fix:
see a physical therapist and let him know what you're experiencing. It's more than likely that you're out of shape and you need to exercise. Working your abs actually takes some of the work off of your back so start doing some crunches/sit-ups!
It's also very important to stretch!
Stretch your back, do some abdominal workouts and hopefully you don't have a more serious problem, i.e.-herniated disk...etc.
Goodluck

. I've had back pain for many years. A heavy dose of Tylinol helps a little, but now I have to use pain pills, prescription meds like Celebrex. Two pills fixes me up for a week or two. I've heard that a Back Brace, like a girdle, helps. .

Are you flat-footed? If so this may cause a mal-aligment at your ankle joint, your knees, your hips, and even your back and neck. It's like a house with no foundation or a foundation that is sagging.
See a reurologist because you may have alipped discs or pinched nerves in the lower back.

I am 25 years old i suffer from degenerate disk disease and spinal stenosis i don't have too many problems standing but i do have problems sitting...whenever i know that i have to sit for a long period of time i always take an extra pain pill for the day and that normally helps otherwise if you are not taking anything for pain and your dress is long enough to cover your feet just slowly slip your shoes off...i know it sounds silly but i always find that being bear foot helps when i stand for long periods of time...good luck and have fun at the wedding...i hope this helps....
