ok, i have a rat, and she has 4 tumors. one of then is twice the size of a bouncy ball, and the other 3 just came up. i took her to the vet and payed 43$ to get her looked at, only to be told that it would cost 500$ to have it removed. i couldn't afford that, so i went home and did some research. here's everything i know that could help.

>>the most common place for a rat to get a tumor, is in the armpit, and the pit of the back leg. once a rat gets a benign mammary adenoma (non-cancerous), there are most likely microscopic cells all up and down the from behind the front arm, down the nipples, and to the back leg, so if you were to get them removed, they would most likely come up again. tumors are extremely common in rats, and especially in girls. most tumors that rats get are rarely cancerous, and can grow to be the size of the rats body before the rat cant take it any more. tumors can be prevented by low-calorie diets, and flax oil, or crushed flax seed, mixed into yogurt, and vitamin c. the flax and yogurt can also be used to slow the growth of tumors, and sometimes has even been known to reduce the size of a tumor. when your rats tumor get to big, you need to feed your rat lots of protein, so it can support the tumor, because as it gets bigger, it takes away protein from the rats body. when your rat is ready to go, and is just miserable with life, you will be able to tell, and the best thing to do, is to get an air tight container, and put a tube, going to some co2, to the container, and pump the co2 into the box. your rat will slowly fall asleep, and not wake up. i know its sad, but there is no pain, not even of a needle, and whats a better way for a rat to die then falling asleep? im really sorry that your rats got tumors!! i know how you feel!! p.s.
dont give your rats legumes, if you didnt know that already. it will make their stomach bloat and they could die

Ring or visit your vets, we can't tell you! Honestly, stop procrastinating and just call the vets, they will give you an idea on how much and you can ask them anything. I was going to get my guinea pigs neutered and I rang up, they told me the cost, how may days they would need to stay, how many guinea pigs they have done etc etc. So, google vets in the MD Montgomery County area and get on the phone. Good luck and I hope everything will be okay! I also have rats, just thought I'd say!
