I stretch my back by doing pelvic tilts on an exercise ball. It works wonders! You are early, so it would be a good idea to get your back ready by doing a lot of stretches and strengthening your back because it's not going to get any easier as you get bigger. :)

I heating pad on low is good. That is what my doctor recommends. Heating pads are fine for your back since you have so many organs and ribs to protect your baby from overheating. If you use a heating pad on other areas such as the stomach then you should limit the time to just 10-15 minutes.
Also- some people feel better after some light yoga to help stretch their backs. If you are into that sort of thing it might help, although you might want to call your doctor first before doing any new exercises.

Ive had horrible back pain since i was in the first trimester and one way i feel that helps it is to go and sit or take a hot shower. It relaxes the mussels and it helps for a little while. Also get your husband or boyfriend to rub your back often. Mine doesnt do it as often as i would like him to do but he still does it and it feels good.
