What Are Some Effective Ab Exercises That Don’t Involve Laying On The Floor On Your Back?

I have a permanent coccyx (butt bone) injury that makes it impossible to do ab exercises that involve laying on the floor on my back, like crunches and sit-ups. The positions of these exercises put pressure on the injured area that makes it painful when coming up into the crunch. Since this isn’t an injury that is going to go away, I need to find some alternative ab exercises that are performed standing up, laying on my side, etc.

  1. Jenny Says:

Try exercising on an exercise ball (also called a stability ball or swiss ball). The ball provides support for the back in a comfortable way since it is filled with air. There are dozens of exercises that can be done on the ball also, so if you don’t like one you can try another.
Try typing Core on the ball in a search engine.
You can also do planks or machines exercises if you have a gym membership.
