What Could Be Causing This Pain In The Back Of My Thighs/legs?

I have been losing weight even though I don’t know if this could be causing the pain, or have something to do with it. My thighs have smoothed out. Whenever I walk, sit, stand up, etc. I have horrible pain in the back of my thighs, and even my knee. It’s very painful even to attempt to bend my knee, and keep my leg straight. I haven’t done anything out of the ordinary. It feels like I pulled a bunch of muscles.
What could be causing this?

    It could be something as simple as a strained muscle, due to your increased activity (I assume), but there is another potential cause.
    There are two nerves that follow from your spine, down your back and down into your legs. They are referred to as the Cluneal and Sciatic nerve. If for some reason there is something putting pressure on one of these, the sensation of pain follows. One of the more common causes of the pressure or impingement of either of these nerves in younger people is an increase in muscle mass. Because the cluneal nerve lies outside the pelvis, increasing muscle mass along the spine can cause a pinching of the nerve. The sciatic nerve comes from the spine but runs inside the pelvis, then down the leg. Again, increasing muscle mass can cause the pain, but it is usually the internal stabilizer muscles that are being bulked up instead of the external muscles.
    The sciatic nerve is more commonly affected than the cluneal nerve, so I would guess that it is probably the cause of your pain.
    It can be relieved with Motrin, and a proper stretching regimen.

    It could be sciatica but that usually incorporates the lower back…not always as it’s a nerve issue.
    When I was in high school that happened to me. I had done the splits without stretching and I couldn’t bend my legs for several days and had to sit on the floor with both legs straight instead of at my desk. As we get older, our bodies just tell us things and remind us we are getting older….If you are losing weight then your body is definitely going through changes anyway. try warm then cold compresses or bathes.

    you may have just pulled them or you might have cramp! particularly if you get this pain at night. drink lots of water to help.
    if youve been exercising a lot, you probably have just overworked your muscles.
    go see a doctor if it persists :) xx
