What Is The Normal Recovery Time For Lower Back Surgery?
Two weeks ago I got in a bad car accident and broke my L2 vertebrate, how long will it most likely be until I can walk normally without my brace. I am targeting the start of May because that is when my summer job is set to start.

Big wheel, that is a good projection date. The thing that concerns me is what are you doing to maintain your overall body strength? As you are in a body brace the muscles that normally do this function are getting weaker. To be able to start a job coming out of a brace is only asking for more problems. You are going to have to do strengthening exercises before you are finally out of the brace and before you return to work. Talk to your doctor about this.

Generally I would say about three months to walk normally without any aid, and about six months to begin doing non-heavy duty manual work safely. Take calcium supplement (200mg x 2 tablets each time, twice a day) to strength your bone and hasten the recovery. Never in any case take more than 500mg of calcium each time at one go because it can cause plaque build-up in arteries.

It all depends how your body heals. Generally 3-6 months will be an adequate guess. There’s too much unsaid to give a close prognosis, yet it also depends on your dedication and will power to get better. Don’t overdo it, either way. Be as active as you can, and get good nutrition, and with guided therapy, I think you will have a chance to get in shape fast.
