You Are About To Undergo A Serious Surgery Abroad, When Would You Tell Your Relatives Back Home About It?
Would you tell them before the operation? Would you tell them after it has been successful or leave it to the doctor in case you didn’t survive it?
My point is that if you don’t survive the surgery that’s bad news for your relatives in any case. If you don’t tell them about the operation at all you just save them one or two days of worry. If you survive it at least they will worry less.

Very good question….I guess it depends on your relationship with your relatives. Are you real close w/them or not? Personally, I would rather just take care of my personal problems on my own, I do not like to worry, bother, or cause any unneeded attention where my health is concerned. Your health is your own responisbility. You should take care of it accordingly, why should your relatives be stressed out about it? Do yourself a favor, and your relatives a favor….and take care of it on your own. When the time comes, if they have to be notified….they will be.

today we have many devices to record ourselves, I would record a loving memory of what you are thinking and the fears that you are going through and show your Family on a video that you love them enough to not worry them, (because what good would that do anyway?) then just let everyone of them know how much you love and miss them and sorry for not doing this another way, but this is what you have to give them.
Then give the tape to the doctors that will be working on you and ask them to give it to the Family in case it doesn’t work out for you.

you are the best one to know your family. i think you should tell them before the surgery. because they are your family and they should know what is happening. and it is unfair to let your family feel unhappy and not to tell them.
